With expansion plans continuing to come into fruition, a builder’s merchant added another store to its growing chain. The project - completely new build, boasted of a showroom, offices, toilets, and kitchen area. To ensure employee comfort, one of their requirements was even flooring surfaces. Having worked on many similar sites, Tremco felt right at home when it was called upon for this project.
The subfloor was a new power float finish subfloor with a curing agent. The recommendation was to remove the curing agent and open up the surface (As per BS 8203:2017 Installation of resilient floor coverings – code of practise) to ensure there was no adhesion issue. ES100 and SX300NA were the recommended Tremco products for this project.
Tremco’s ES100 is a cost-effective single coat application damp-proof membrane (DPM). DPMs are developed to minimise moisture vapour transmission by bonding to the surface of the concrete. Tremco’s ES100 works by supressing residual moisture in concrete and sand/cement subfloors. Following on from the application of a DPM was Tremco’s SX300NA - a smoothing underlayment which has excellent adhesion to a wide range of common flooring substrates, including concrete, sand/cement and screeds. SX300NA can be used without the need for a primer in the correct circumstances. This allows for a fast-track installation program, minimising disruption.
